Step, Step, Stepping Out....on FAITH!

The year of 2012 has brought to me some enormous challenges, set-backs and tests. Death, health challenges, job losses, among other hardships. Six years ago, I had a test where I solely had to rely on God and my faith to believe that He would open doors for me. I stressed very little because I had witnessed prior the things that I had overcomed and never thought for a second that He would not deliver.

So here I am again Lord, this time with Even Bigger challenges. I have spent time helping others to believe in brighter days but I haven't taken time to BELIEVE for myself. Now that ain't right!

Lately, I been listening to sermons by T.D. Jakes and some music videos to uplift myself. This year my favorite song is by MaryMary's "Go Get It". So the last time I played this song and really, I mean REALLY listened to the sermon's messages, I felt the same theme resonating....It's my Time. It's my season. But I've been asking myself...."time for what?"

Well sometimes God has a way to shine a light on pathways that were dark and those pathways are ones that you would never considered walking down. Because really, they are dark, scary and you don't know what's down there.

But I realize that I have been failing myself. I have forgotten what I learned about God six years ago. If nothing else, I forgot that it was Him that opened the door for me to be blessed. I forgot that I didn't have fear then because I had relinquished all to Him to fight my battles.

What the heck is wrong with me? All the the trials and tests that has happened to me in 2012, was to prepare me to be blessed at the next level. It's my time, it's my season. So I'm gonna "go get my blessing" It's been silly of me to forget all the things God has done for me in the past and not believe that He can't or even won't bless me now.

So if you see me smiling foolishly and it appears that I have had a nervous breakdown :), pray for me because I'am just waiting for God's plan for me next and while I'm waiting, I am STEPPIN OUT ON FAITH!

Concert of Colors

This past weekend was so FABULOUS, it felt like a mini-vacay! Detroit hosted a free event and actually we've been hosting this for a number of years. It's the Concert of Colors. It had food, vendors and the great entertainment. I came especially to hear Regina Carter, Tito Puente Jr., and George Clinton.

Kristian's Graduation Luau

Congratulations to Kristian, who has graduated and plans to continue her career by pursuing her Masters. Her mom graciously hosted a Backyard Luau before Kristian returns to school out of state.
.....Guess who was there photographing the event? Yours truly!

It's Just Dinner!

Cooking is just one of the things I enjoy...not just because I like to eat and I need nutrition. I really have a satisfaction for many different foods. I like experimenting with many different spices and creating tastes from various ethnic groups. I like incorporating African-American tastes with other ethnic groups to come up with a hodge-podge I can call my own. I love the colors, textures and mostly the smells. So since I also enjoy photography, I've become quite happy with merging two of the things I enjoy the most.

This is one of my last meals that I prepared and I hope you enjoy it with me!

It's A New Day!

I am so grateful and so elated that my birthday is coming in a few weeks. It's not so much that it is the day I was born on because I really never celebrate my birthday. But it's that I am feeling super blessed that I've got to share the feeling. After so much adversity, I feel so faithful and confident to have been able to press forward (God willing) to overcome obstacles that I could not have imagined facing in my youth.
If you are elated and blessed....please contact me to share a photo session...walking in Fabulous Light!

One Moment of Love

The minute I heard my first love story,
I started looking for you, not knowing how blind that was.
Lovers don't finally meet somewhere, they're in each other all along.
~From Essential Rumi

My recent photo session was very pleasurable to say the least. David is originally from St. Louis and Pia from Cinncinnati and they settled in Metro Detroit. From the moment I met them I could see their genuine love for each other. They also had a very down to earth spirit and I felt like I've known them all along. There wasn't any pretense here...nothing but pure love.

David, a perfect gentleman, helped his wife with each step she took. I understand why Pia's heart would melt, being called his "Queen"! They both were a breath of fresh air for me.
